Short Breaks in Aldershot
Aldershot sits on heathland in the county of Hampshire, south-west of London. It is famous for being known as ‘The Home of the British Army’, having a number of military bases and training establishments. The Aldershot Military Cemetery and the Aldershot Military Museum are well worth a visit for those with an interest in military history. The town is well placed for exploring much of the South of England, having good public transport connections to London, and other nearby towns and cities, such as Guildford, Southampton and Portsmouth.
Set in 154 acres of parkland, The Aldershot Lido is a great place for a fun day out, having a swimming pool with water flumes, a toddler paddling pool and sandpit, and all-weather pitches for hockey, football, tennis and basketball. The Aldershot Lido is open every day from July to September. The Legoland theme park is also only a 30 minute drive away near Bracknell. For skiing enthusiasts, there is The Alpine Snow Sports Centre, with 3 dry ski slopes and a busy schedule of training courses.
