Short Breaks in Buckingham
Buckingham is a bustling market town in the county of Buckinghamshire. Set in the heart of southern England, the town is characterised by plenty of green open spaces and tree lined streets, along with many examples of fine Georgian architecture. The parks include Chandos Park with stretches of the River Ouse, Heartlands with its skateboarding park and Bourton Park with its bridle ways and playgrounds. At the centre of the town you will find The Old Gaol, an imposing 18th century building, now home to two museums: the Buckingham Museum and The Flora Thompson Museum, dedicated to the life of Flora Thompson, made famous for her book Lark Rise to Candleford.
Just 5 minutes’ drive away from Buckingham is the magnificent Stowe Garden. This 400 acre landscaped Georgian garden includes a deer park, lakes, rivers, temples, monuments and a National Trust tea room.
Another popular local attraction is the Silverstone motor racing track where Formula One motor racing competitions can be seen on its Grand Prix motor racing circuit. A thrilling range of personal off-road driving experiences are also available.
