Short Breaks in Ceredigion
Ceredigion is a coastal county in the mid-west of Wales. A county of contrasts - to the east the heights of the Cambrian Mountains and to the south and west, the lower-lying coastal regions. Much of the coastline can be found along Cardigan Bay (the bay's name derived from 'Ceridigion'). The county's main river is the River Teifi.
The main town in Ceredigion is Aberystwyth - famous for its university and also the location of the impressive National Library Of Wales building. Other towns in the county include Lampeter, Cardigan, Llandysul and the seaside town of New Quay. There are also many small coastal villages to explore such as Borth and Aberarth.
Other things to see in the county include the medieval fortress of Aberystwyth Castle, the dizzying heights of Devil's Bridge which can be reached by taking the Vale of Rheidol Railway and the Ynys-hir nature reserve. If you are feeling more adventurous, Cardigan Bay has plenty of water sports to participate in over the summer months as well as trips to see bottle-nosed dolphins off the coast. The county is also popular with walkers, climbers - in fact anyone who is keen on the great outdoors!
