Short Breaks in Chulmleigh
In the heart of the North Devon countryside situated between Exmoor and Dartmoor lies the hilltop town of Chulmleigh. It is a picturesque town with thatched cottages, a fine parish church, many old listed buildings and some impressive views over the Taw Valley. At nearby Eggesford Forest, by the banks of the River Taw is the start of the Tarka Trail walk - a 180 mile walk through the landscape made famous in the classic Henry Williamson novel 'Tarka The Otter'. The town has a very good public golf course with excellent views of the area. There are also opportunities for a spot of fishing on the river, hill trekking and mountain biking.
Nearby are the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, the impressive sand dunes at Braunton Burrows, the picturesque cobbled streets of Clovelley as well as the popular seaside resorts of Torquay and Paignton on the English Rivera and the historical cathedral city of Exeter.
