Short Breaks in Hereford
Hereford is a cathedral city in the mid-west of England, just 16 miles from the Welsh border. It has an imposing 11thcentury cathedral and a beautifully preserved Jacobean house, known as The Old House, now a museum on Jacobean life. In addition, there are fascinating exhibitions at the Hereford Museum and Art Gallery.
The Rive Wye runs through Hereford and can be crossed via the picturesque medieval Wye Bridge. Popular with canoeists, the river can also be explored by walkers taking stretches of The Wye Valley walk, which runs for 130 miles along its banks. A thirty minute drive south-west of Hereford will take you to the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Wales, a stunningly beautiful mountain range providing endless scope for mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, canoeing and rock climbing.
Other attractions in Hereford include a horse racing course, The Belmont Lodge Golf Course and The Courtyard Centre for the Arts, offering film, theatre and music events.
