Short Breaks in Jersey
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands situated in the south of the English Channel. Because of its proximity to the French coast the island shares a mix of both British and French culture as well as in its rustic scenery. The island's capital is St. Helier and other parishes include Saint Clement, Saint Brélade, Trinity and the coastal parish of Grouville.
The landscape of the island ranges from the northern cliffs to sandy beach to rural countryside. There are also opportunities to view Jersey's marine life - bottle-nosed dolphins and grey seals can be sighted off of the coast. Agriculture plays a large part of Jersey life - the island is famous for its cattle and dairy products; in particular Jersey cream. Jersey potatoes are another staple! Locally grown asters also play a part in Jersey's most famous festival - The Battle of Flowers, a colourful carnival which takes place every August.
Attractions on the island include the ever-growing Jersey Shell Garden, Elizabeth Castle in St Aubin's Bay as well as the many galleries and shops demonstrating local island crafts. Family days out at Jersey could involve a trip to the Maritime Museum, a day of watery fun at Aquasplash in St. Helier, watching the wildlife at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust or maybe a visit to the ‘aMaizin’ adventure park and its cereal crop maze!
