Short Breaks in Kelso
The market town of Kelso is located in the Scottish Borders and lies on the banks of the River Tweed. Kelso is ideally located for access to the beauty of the Scottish Borders, Northumberland and the dramatic Berwickshire coast.
Kelso is a town of cobbled streets with a central market square. It has some fine examples of Georgian architecture and its main bridge was designed by John Rennie, the man who also built London Bridge.
Nearby local attractions of Kelso include the stately splendour of Floors Castle - built in the mid-18th century and the seat of the Duke of Roxburghe, the ruins of Kelso Abbey and the impressive Kelso town hall. From Kelso it is only a short drive to Scott's View near Bemersyde - a hill side location named after Sir Walter Scott with, unsurprisingly, some great views! Also nearby is the Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum and a fine example of an Edwardian country home - Manderston House.
