Short Breaks in Kyle
The village of Kyle is located on the north-west coast of Scotland in the Scottish Highlands. Its full name 'Kyle of Lochalsh' derives from the Gaelic 'Strait of the foaming lake' and the village is situated at the mouth of Loch Alsh. The village has shops which serve the local area, eateries which offer local food - such as the local salmon (which would not have been caught far from your table!) - and there is also a harbour and marina.
On the opposite bank of the loch, this actually being part of the Isle Of Skye, lies the village of Kyleakin. The two villages are joined by the impressive Skye Bridge which is located just to the west of Kyle.
The surrounding area is a wealth of natural wonder and breathtaking scenery. Here you may be able to catch a glimpse of a stag or two, view one of Scotland's highest waterfalls - The Falls of Gloamach or marvel at the mountainous peaks and ridges known as the Five Sisters of Kintail. Also nearby is historic Eilean Donan Castle and its beautiful island setting as well as the picturesque villages of Sallachy and Plockton; the latter which also offers boat trips where you can view grey seals.
Due to the stunning location, no matter where you visit in the region you are never far away from a photo opportunity!
