Short Breaks in Peebles
Peeblesshire
Peeblesshire is situated in the south of Scotland and, although a delightful rural area of hills and glens, it is only 40 minutes drive from the city of Edinburgh. A wide range of outdoor activities are available in Peeblesshire, including trout fishing on the River Tweed and Lyne Water; walking, hot air ballooning and horse riding. The mountain biking trails at Glenntress and Innerleithen in the Tweed Valley are considered some of the best mountain biking routes in Britain.
For nature lovers the Dawyck Botanical Garden, The Glenholm Wildlife Centre and the Heron Wood Reserve have much to offer. Of historical interest is Neidpath Castle, the Giant Stones of Tweedmuir and Traquair House - a former medieval hunting lodge, now a grand stately home.
