Short Breaks in Ramsgate
The seaside town of Ramsgate lies on the coast of South East England. Part of an area of Kent known as the Isle Of Thanet, Ramsgate is one of the ancient Cinque Ports and has the only Royal Harbour in the country. It also boasts one of the largest marinas on the south coast. The Port of Ramsgate offers regular cross-channel ferry services to Ostend in Belgium.
The town has come a long way from its modest beginnings as a fishing hamlet. There is a bustling market in the town every Friday and the marina waterfront is full of bars and cafes giving it a very continental feel. As well as its two harbours, the town's coastline is very popular with holiday makers; the main beach being Ramsgate Main Sands which offers all the joys of the essential seaside experience!
At nearby Pegwell Bay you can view a reconstructed Viking longship known as the Hugin. Take a boat trip out to sea to view the marine life of the area including seals or partake in a spot of fishing. From your boat you may also catch a look at the staggering Thanet Offshore Wind Farm, the largest of its kind in the entire world.
