Hampshire is a county on the South Coast of England with a rich military history; The Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force all originated from the county. It also has a wealth of areas of natural beauty from the South Downs to the east, to the famous woodlands of the New Forest in the west as well as the magnificent River Solent which separates the county from the Isle Of Wight. The county includes the cities of Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester and the major towns of Andover, Basingstoke and Gosport.
Tourist attractions in the county include the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and the motor racing circuit at Thruxton, the HMS Victory and Mary Rose museum (both in Portsmouth), the Watercress Steam Railway and the sumptuous gardens at Mottisfont Abbey.
