Short Breaks in Royal Tunbridge Wells
Royal Tunbridge Wells is a town in west Kent, about 35 miles from London. Made popular as a spa resort in the Georgian era, it is blessed with some charming examples of Regency and Victorian architecture. The Chalybeate Spring still flows today and visitors can drink the spa water during the summer months at the famous Pantiles.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is set on the edge of the Weald, an extensive area of beautiful countryside designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, encompassing farmland, woodland, and gently rolling hills and valleys. The town is the perfect base for exploring the Weald, which provides a stunning back drop for walking, cycling and horse riding.
For those who enjoy a waterside setting, Bewl Water, just 8 miles south-west of Royal Tunbridge Wells, has much to offer. This large lake provides a host of activities, among them being sailing, wind surfing, rowing, bird watching and trout fishing.
