Short Breaks in Teignmouth
Teignmouth is a traditional seaside holiday destination on the south coast of Devon, complete with its own pier, an amusement arcade and a long sandy beach. Beach huts can be found on the estuary side of the town, with views upstream along the River Teign.
Several exciting live events take place in Teignmouth each year including the Teignmouth Jazz Festival, a folk festival, a science Festival and the Teignmouth Carnival.
For sight-seeing in the wider area, the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company run delightful excursions using interconnecting boats, steam trains and buses for trips to other nearby resorts such as Torquay, Paignton and Dartmouth.
Teignmouth is just 15 miles from the western edge of Dartmoor, a national park and conservation area extending over 954 square kilometres. It is a prime location for walkers, providing beautiful and challenging terrain. Dartmoor is known for its distinctive tors (hills topped with dramatic rock formations), tumbling rivers, peat bogs and ancient standing stones.
