Warwickshire
The county of Warwickshire, in the West Midlands region of England, is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare from Stratford-upon-Avon. The county town is Warwick which is known for its historic architecture and famous castle. Other towns include Nuneaton, Rugby, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon.
The county is predominantly rural but has many major transport links as well as the Grand Union Canal which runs through the county on its way to Birmingham. Historical sites in the county include Lunt Roman Fort at Baignton, the site of the Battle of Edgehill and the magnificent Warwick Castle. Other places of interest include the ruins of Kenilworth Castle and the stately splendour of Ragley Hall and Compton Verney House.
