About Stow-on-the-Wold
Situated in Gloucestershire, Stow-on-the-Wold is a picturesque market town in the Cotswolds, the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England. It has numerous gastro pubs, antiques shops and galleries; perfect for a gentle day out browsing around the town.
The Cotswolds is an area much celebrated for its charming Cotswold Stone villages, green valleys, gently rolling hills, peaceful rivers and beech woods. Stow-on-the-Wold makes an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswolds region, with its many opportunities for walking, cycling, horse riding, golf and fishing.
Just south of Stow-on-the-Wold, at Bourton-on-the-Water, is the Birdland Park and Gardens. Ideal for a family day out and set in 7 acres of parkland, the Birdland Park and Gardens has a delightful collection of over 500 species of birds including Penguins, Flamingoes, Parrots and Falcons. There is also a children’s play area and café.
Owned by the National Trust and a little north of Stow-on-the-Wold, is the fascinating Jacobean country house, Chastleton House. This property has remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years and very much offers a sense of stepping back in time to its visitors. It has a Jacobean topiary garden and a kitchen ceiling that hasn’t been cleaned since the early 17th century!
