About Norwich

Norwich is a city in the county of Norfolk in the south-east of England. It is an excellent centre for shopping, offering an interest mix of outlets. Down many of the medieval alleys and backstreets you will find distinctive independent shops, ideal for original gifts and unusual items not found on the high street. With its multi-coloured canvas topped stalls, Norwich Market is the biggest Monday to Friday open market in England. It has almost 200 stalls and is noted for its friendly and characterful atmosphere.

Norwich has a rich history and fine examples of architecture from across many centuries. The elegant spire of the 900 year old Norwich Cathedral is a memorable part of the city’s skyline along with the 11th century castle keep, which is now a museum and art gallery. Other museums in Norwich include the City of Norwich Aviation Museum and the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum.

The city is a lively cultural centre and every year the Norfolk and Norwich Festival offers an exciting variety of arts events. There is also an excellent range of theatres such as The Theatre Royal, The Norwich Playhouse, The Maddermarket Theatre, The Garage and The Norwich Puppet Theatre.

Further afield outside Norwich itself, The Norfolk Broads provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, whether it is by boating, fishing or bird watching on the waterways. Cyclists and walkers will also find much of interest along the many paths and trails, and canoeing, sailing and windsurfing are also available.
