Holiday Properties in Penzance

Just 10 miles from Land’s End, Penzance is the most westerly town in Cornwall. On the shores of Mount’s Bay, it looks out to sea and towards St Michael’s Mount, a hill top castle settlement that becomes an island at high tide, but can be reached by a causeway when the tide is out.

On the outskirts of Penzance is Newlyn, which was the focus for the Newlyn School art movement, a community of artists that lived and worked in the Newlyn area from the 1880s to the early 20th century.  Work by some of these artists can be seen at the Penlee House Gallery & Museum in Penzance.

The local coastline is noted for its beauty, encompassing sweeping sandy beaches, tucked away coves and dramatic craggy cliffs. Many local beaches are some of the cleanest in the UK and include Marazion Beach, Porthcurno Beach and Sennen Beach.  A number of the popular beaches are patrolled by Lifeguards during the summer months and are ideal for traditional family enjoyment. Unsurprisingly then, taking a holiday in Penzance is a very popular choice and there is plenty of accommodation available for visitors looking for the ideal short break, ranging from fisherman's cottages in the town to hilltop holiday apartments.

In addition to the coastal area, walkers and mountain bikers will find numerous routes of interest further inland, many crossing open moorland. A number of ancient historical sites can be seen in the region, such as The Merry Maidens standing stones and the Chysauster Iron Age Village.
