The villa is perfectly located for a quiet holiday within easy reach of the town, which can be seen from the garden and the roof terrace. However, a car is essential.

2 covered terraces offer shade for eating and relaxing. The terrace at the front of the villa was used by the people working the land for eating their lunch, and the curved stone seating benches are still there. Small cushions are provided to make the seats more comfortable. The side terrace is newly built with stone archways, and overlooks the swimming pool - the ideal place to watch the sunsets. The large sitting room has views through two double French doors to the terrace and the pool area. The roof terrace offers the perfect vantage to enjoy a chilled drink and enjoy the sunset. A small wooden table and two chairs are available for use on the roof terrace.

There is a very large selection of DVDs, from old favourites to new, and paperbacks, plus travel and information books and maps of the area. Also available Nintendo Wii with refundable security deposit. Enquire on booking.

Your surroundings: Part of the villa is well over 100 years old, and was originally built for use during olive harvest. It has been extended to the owners design, incorporating stelle volte stone ceilings in two rooms to echo the ceilings in the existing building and stone archways to the terrace. The area on which the villa stands is a protected zone with unusual traditional houses, each standing on approximately 2 acres of land. The villa is the only property which is inhabited on a regular basis at present, although two neighbouring houses are undergoing renovation by their owners. The lane on which the villa stands finally ends at a small nursery growing vegetables for local shops. Traffic is practically non existant.

"We had a wonderful stay at Villa Mimosa. It was like a home from home which was such a nice change from the stark and functional rental villas we've stayed at in the past. We were welcomed by Chris and Norman who had thoughfully brought us groceries (in addition to those in the welcome pack) as we arrived on Saturday night and they knew no shops would be open the next day for us to buy any food. The kitchen is well equiped with everything you could need - if you can be bothered to cook whist on your hols :) We really liked the expresso maker and became quite addicted to our daily caffine 'fix'. The owners are happy to let you use any food they have left there as long as you replace it. All rooms are clean and comfortably furnished. Each room has air conditioning (we used this in the bedrooms at night time). The master bedroom, sitting room and breakfast room have vaulted ceilings, which give the rooms a kind of churchy feel, full of character and charm. The outside is really lovely, a large plot with various olive and fruit trees that are cultivated by Vincenzo, who also comes and cleans the pool. The front porch is a lovely place to chill out in the shade with the cats (who are very friendly). The pool was an absolute hit with the kids. The design allows you to walk around the shallow edges but curves down into a deep area in the middle into which you can dive from the springboard. There is a solar shower and sunbeds with covers and from the pool terrace you can look out over the neighbouring Trulli house and olive trees. Near to the pool is a lovely grassed area with palms, bordered by various plants. We loved to go up onto the roof terrace in the evening to enjoy the silence and watch the stars with a glass or two of local wine (very cheap and very good. We could hardly believe it when we found 5 litres of wine at the GM supermarket in San Vito for 5 euros!) There are no other buildings around that are occupied so you really are in splendid isolation which for us, coming from a busy part of the world, was really nice. A car however, is essential. We did walk from Carvigno back to the villa but it took 20 mins, so a car is necessary to get into town and further afield. Villa Mimosa is a haven of peace and tranquility and a great base to come home to after exploring this lovely part of Italy. We would definitely visit again."
