Luntley Court is a gorgeous Grade II listed manor house that makes a very peaceful retreat for large group holidays, quiet celebrations, elegant hen weekends and walking breaks. 6 spacious bedrooms sleep 18 guests, there’s a games room with a snooker table, and a private garden with a hot tub and football goals.
Inside is absolutely wonderful – a rambling old manor that’s full of character. There are flagstone floors, exposed timbers, oak panelling and ornamental fireplaces; everything seems slightly askew, adding to the charm. It’s the perfect blend of historic features and all the modern day conveniences you need for a relaxing large group stay.
The backdrop is the glorious countryside of West Herefordshire, within easy reach of Ludlow and Hay on Wye; a short walk across the fields takes you to the picturesque village of Pembridge where you can stop for lunch at The New Inn or The Cider Barn. If you prefer a longer ramble, plan a route along Offa’s Dyke or head into the Black Mountains and climb Hay Bluff for the most incredible views.
You’ll find plenty to see and do nearby; follow the Black & White Village Trail through some of the prettiest villages to see more of the quirky half-timbered houses that this area is known for; stop at Shobdon to see the unusual ‘wedding cake’ church. Visit Berrington Hall and Croft Castle, go to Hergest Croft for a stroll through the gardens, or to the eclectic Westonbury Mill Water Garden.
Spend a day browsing the book shops in Hay on Wye, if you’re here when the world famous literary festival is on, book up for an event. Discover Ludlow with its medieval castle, a lively market and annual food festival. Visit Hereford where you can see the Mappi Mundi and fascinating chained library in the cathedral. Children will love the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre, and Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo at Symonds Yat. Tie it in with a boat trip on the River Wye, or if you’re the adventurous types, a spot of kayaking or canoeing.
There is something for everyone within a short drive, but you might not feel the need to go anywhere when you stay at Luntley Court. "A beautiful property where you'll want for nothing!! The house accommodated 18 people very comfortably and a lovely little treat to have bathrobes in each of the rooms. The cot was very handy, as was the bedroom with adjoining bedrooms which a family of 5 with a small baby stayed in! For such a large house it felt very warm, even when we woke up to a winter frost outside it felt snug inside! The tasteful decor and plenty of blankets also helped! It was particularly nice to all be able to sit down and eat dinner together in the gorgeous dining room. There are very few properties that can accommodate such large groups, and as this was a family gathering it was so nice to be able to sit down and chat late into the evening over dinner. There were plenty of plates, cutlery for dining, and the kitchen was incredibly well equipped. The 2 dishwashers and Aga deserve a special mention too! The hot tub and pool table provided hours of entertainment. We couldn't recommend this property highly enough. Will made sure that everything was covered for a smooth check in and check out! Thanks for a brilliant stay!"
