Barn Holidays in Ventnor
Located on the Isle of Wight coastal path, Ventnor is a Victorian seaside resort on the south coast of the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. Sheltered by the steep slopes known as the Undercliff overlooking the town, Ventnor is known for enjoying more warm sunny days than is typical for most other parts of Britain and consequently an interesting collection of sub-tropical plants and shrubs can be seen at the Ventnor Botanic Garden. Much of the Undercliff is officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for scenic walks and bike rides.
Ventnor’s gently sloping beach is perfect for family swimming with other good beaches nearby at Sandown and Shanklin. On windier days, surfing and body-boarding can also be enjoyed a little further off shore.
Ventnor Park with its aviary, bandstand, stream and putting green is an ideal place for a relaxing gentle walk, as well as The Cascade Gardens which has a delightful waterfall leading down to a paddling-pool on the sea front. Popular among shoppers are the many quaint antique and bric-à-brac shops in the town offering many opportunities for a gentle afternoon browsing for unusual finds. An excellent choice of pubs, restaurants and cafés overlook the beach, and local caught seafood is frequently on the menu.
Ventnor can lay claim to the largest colony of wall lizards in Britain and they can be seen in living in a wall at the Ventnor Botanic Garden.Read More...
