When Stonehayes was a working farm, Pippinsands was the farmhouse; it’s a traditional Devon longhouse, thatched and full of country charm and quirky old features, and what you can’t help noticing is the wonderful relaxed air about the house; it’s as though the bumpy old walls absorbed the happy vibes of the people who lived here.

With 6 bedrooms sleeping 14 people, Pippinsands is the perfect big country cottage for large group holidays of all kinds – families, friends, a refined hen weekend, and corporate stays.

Walk into a wide hallway and straight away you get how utterly gorgeous this place is; to the right is the bright and airy drawing room, straight ahead is a WC, and to the left is a snug, the annexe and the kitchen and dining room.

That annexe is very much a part of the house but if you’ve got a couple who like their own space, or elderly grandparents who like to turn in a bit earlier at night, it’s perfect as it has a kitchen/diner, small lounge and a bedroom with an en suite shower room.

The main kitchen is a very good size for cooking and being sociable together; it’s got a 4 oven oil-fired Aga, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and a very handy walk-in pantry. Centre place in the dining room is a bespoke table to seat 14 with a wonderful outlook over the front garden.

Upstairs off a long landing are five bedrooms; Bedroom 1 has an en suite shower room, Bedrooms 2 and 3 both share the family bathroom with a P bath and overhead shower, Bedroom 4 has an en suite with WC and sink, and Bedroom 5 is actually a suite of a double and a twin room with an en suite shower room (perfect for families with young children). What’s good is that most beds are zip and link so you can have them arranged as twins or as a superking – very convenient!

The large gardens are to the front and side of the house, with extensive views out over the Devon countryside. You don’t need us to tell you how relaxing it is to sit back in the hot tub and listen to the birdsong whilst squirrels scoot about on the lawn. There’s something very captivating about this beautiful holiday house and we know you’ll have a halcyon holiday with moments to savour in years to come.

NB: There is a small unfenced pond in the garden so young children must be supervised at all times.
