House Holidays in England
England is part of the United Kingdom and shares borders with the countries of Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. It is an ideal destination for a self-catering holiday. The country is divided into counties, all with their own unique geography, traditions and dialects. The capital of England is the city of London and is an excellent destination for a city short break holiday.
It is a country of contrasting landscapes from forest to moorland, lakes to cliff-lined coasts and meadows to mountain, offering a rich variety of interest for a Walking Short Break holiday. Travellers can find self-catering holiday accommodation in picturesque villages as well as large bustling cities.
England has a wealth of history, and this is evident in the many castles, churches and cathedrals throughout the country. It also has a rich artistic heritage from the literary works of Shakespeare and Dickens to the art of Gainsborough and Constable.
Famous English landmarks include the important prehistoric site of Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, the iconic Houses of Parliament in London, The Eden Project bio-dome Cornwall and the steel sculpture of the Angel Of The North at Gateshead.
In recent years a lively season of festivals has been established across the country, making England ideal for a Festival Short Break holiday rental. English festivals include the famous music festivals at Glastonbury in Somerset, the Isle of Wight festival in June and the world music festival, WOMAD, in Wiltshire. The literary festivals at Hay-on-Wye, Cheltenham and Oxford are also hugely popular. Food, comedy and film festivals also abound throughout the year.
All of these elements have made England a popular tourist destination for a self-catering holiday let.
